Millennium Park’s Pritzker Pavilion is the place to be the next two Mondays for FREE concerts by emerging, or in some cases, legendary indie artists. First on Mon. 6/22 @ 6:30pm is Dirty Projectors (whose new album Bitte Orca is being mentioned in the same breath as Merriweather Post Pavilion and Veckatimest as Album of the Year contenders).
Then on Mon. 6/29 there are 2 separate shows not to miss. At noon, part of the Edible Audible Picnic, is Black Moth Super Rainbow whose tunes are a revelation. Mining similar territory to Stereolab and The Flaming Lips, BMSR brings psychedelic bass and drum thump topped with vocoder vocals. Never mind the rubbish band name they are fantastic.
Again on June 29th at 7:30pm is the return of The Feelies, pioneers of jangly guitar pop and perhaps best known for their debut (and STILL out-of-print) Crazy Rhythms. I am really looking forward to seeing The Feelies who were a major influence on one of my favorite bands of all time, Luna.
